As part of Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth, the Bodleian Libraries will be running a variety of events, lectures and activity days. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about Tolkien’s languages, explore Tolkien’s Oxford and get up close and personal with Tolkien’s works.

This lecture will explore the complex relationship between Tolkien and Beowulf, as it developed and was reflected both in his scholarship and in his fiction.
